Principal's Message
Dear McMillan Elementary School Community,
It is an extreme honor to introduce myself as the new principal of McMillan Elementary School and to join this extraordinary school community. I hope that this note finds you and your family healthy, and doing well. I can assure you that I share in this school community’s commitment to caring for your children each day while providing them an excellent learning environment.
The 2021-2022 school year marks my 14th year in education. Since graduating from The University of
Texas at San Antonio, I have served as a teacher, instructional coach, and most recently as the Assistant Principal here at McMillan Elementary School. Although I have always felt at home in the classroom, it is in my position as a school administrator where I have been most fulfilled in my life’s work. The elementary principal position provides me the opportunity to work collaboratively with teachers on a daily basis, while also remaining connected to the students learning and growing in the classroom. I firmly believe that every child can excel and that the partnership between home and school builds confidence in students to use their skills to shape their future, the future of our community, and our nation.
We have the most amazing students, teachers, and parent community here at McMillan Elementary. It is my goal to continue to strengthen the relationship between all stakeholders in order to ensure the students at McMillan receive the high quality education they deserve. I am committed to always exploring new ways to meet the needs of all students and to more effectively communicate with parents and community members. We will be meeting with parents, students, and as a staff throughout the year to identify specific goals in the areas of student achievement, school climate, and parent communication. Please feel free to stop by anytime to join the conversation.
To our students, I am so grateful to have the privilege of continuing to watch you grow into amazing young leaders. It is going to be a fun year learning together. When you see me in the hallway, drop off lane, recess, or cafeteria please say hello. The best part of my day is spending time with you.
In closing, please know that my door is always open to you. I welcome your conversation and positive input throughout this year. Let us always keep our students as the primary focus of our work. I look forward to celebrating our collective successes during the 2021-2022 school year and beyond.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Nikki Longmore
Principal
McMillan Elementary School
