School Wide Behavior

It is expected that all students conduct themselves in a manner that supports the educational process and demonstrate the life skills and code of conduct. By maintaining a high expectation of conduct for all students, an optimal learning environment will be achieved. Students ARE NOT to bring toys, sporting equipment, electronic devices, handheld games, etc. to school. All necessary playground equipment will be supplied. Should students choose to bring nuisance items to school parents are welcome to retrieve the items from the office. Students who choose to bring toy weapons or replicas of weapons, or items that can be used as a weapon will be treated as authentic weapons and subject to CCSD disciplinary actions. Cell phones must be kept in the off position and secured in the students backpack. The video/camera function of the cell phone is not permitted during any part of the school day. At no time will cell phone usage be permitted during the instructional day.

During the first weeks of school, emphasis will be placed on teaching students the school-wide procedures, and modeling how they look and what they sound like in various settings such as the classroom, cafeteria, walking around the campus, lining up on the playground, etc. Classroom management is a critical factor in successful student achievement. Before any of the following steps should be followed, the teacher will implement the classroom discipline plan.

We are a Be Kind school. Being Kind is a simple way to “catch” someone and let them know that their genuine kindness can change the world. Our hope is that people being “caught” will be inspired to be more kind, more often.

Students caught being kind are recognized during our morning announcements. Students can also earn Be Kind bracelets.
